Local Authority Management Awards 2011 – Best Public Building Finalist

Extension and refurbishment of existing 1911 Carneige Library in Greystones – a Protected Structure, on behalf of Wicklow Co. Council. The existing site is located beside a railway and overlooks the Irish sea to the East providing an ideal location for a new First Floor Reading Room.

Ground floor Public Areas were re-organised and refurbished by raising the ceiling height to expose the original Edwardian timber structure. New Entrance Lobby and Library Desk

The new Reading Room and Study area are located at First Floor and enjoy dramatic sea views whilst also overlooking the main Public Areas at ground floor. New stairs and lift ensure that all parts of this Protected Structure are universally accessible. Materials used include copper cladding, painted render and hardwood windows.
